Pines, poplars, cypresses, lime trees, and more line the graceful walks, with gentle stairs following the contours of the cliff-side location, and numerous fountains, pools, and sculptures adding a sense of classical tradition. The gardens were commissioned in 1919, and have been considered one of the area’s finest outdoor spaces ever since. Coastal Walks
Those who like their outdoor time to be a bit more active will find plenty to delight them with the range of coastal walks available around the town and its superb beaches. One of the finest is the Fenals Beach walk; it which winds from the town’s main promenade along the coast, taking in Garbi Point and Sa Caravera Beach, before ascending a hill with spectacular views and then descending to Banys Cove and walking through pine groves to Fenals Point and the striking St. Joan Castle, and finally descending to tranquil Fenals beach. For a different way to take in the natural splendour of the Costa Brava, try sea kayaking – not only does it offer the chance to explore the coast from the sea, but the views that it provides, looking back across the water, are different from anything that can be seen while on land – not to mention being a quieter and far less crowded way of seeing the coastline. With the lively sea birds that can be seen up close, secluded coves and creeks, caves, and tucked-away beaches, this is a fantastic way to get ‘off the beaten track’ after making the transfer from Barcelona to Lloret de Mar.
